Michael J. Nadeau Carpentry
started in 1987 is celebrating
its 20th year in business. His
personal experience goes back to
1969 when he worked for his
father, Roland Nadeau and his
uncle Zoel Nadeau. Building goes
back three generations to Canada
and his grandfather who used to
hand hue logs and build barns.
His wife Paula manages the
office. The business has grown
significantly from working out
of home in a small room to a 400
sq. ft. showroom, offices and
cabinet shop located at 816 Four
Rod Road.
Back in the 80’s Michael built
homes but in the 90’s to present
has concentrated on home
improvements. Michael is happy
that he went in that direction
because it’s more challenging
and rewarding. He has always
been very artistic and creative
and enjoyed working with his
hands. He put it all together by
designing and building mostly
every project. He believes home
shows, HGTV, etc. have put a new
spin on renovating homes and
landscapes. People put a higher
regard for talents in this
field. His vast knowledge in the
industry is evident in all our
projects.
He has been very fortunate to
have talented and responsible
people work for him for numerous
years including his
subcontractors who do most of
the mechanicals which makes for
one big family who work well
together. The company does
perform a majority of the
carpentry work themselves.
Michael believes that in home
improvement it is very important
to have a good plan, and
coordinate and organize both
employees and subcontractors
from start to finish. “It makes
the whole process run smoothly
and on time. We are always
complimented on how clean our
job sites are. I encourage my
staff to pick up on a daily
basis.”
Michael also believes that
communication is imperative
between the client and himself
as well as his employees. He is
always accessible whether it is
a quick question or a major
revision. This is evident from
his initial meting with the
client. He starts off with an
informational meeting discussing
options, criteria and budget.
Then he gets started on a
preliminary designed plan
getting the needed estimates and
will then send the client a
quote for the proposed project.
The company performs a number of
home improvements including
additions to homes, kitchen and
bathroom renovations, sunrooms
and decks, siding and roofing
work. Our focus has always been
on innovation and attention to
detail.
The cabinet business was started
about seven years ago and has
done quite well. We make custom
cabinetry for our projects only
and do not build for other
contractors.
Michael selected his own name
for the company because it
signifies the personal approach
to business, quality and
honesty. This has been handed
down through three generations
and it is the basis of good
business. The company donates to
various scholarships and
national charities as well as
local enforcement agencies.
I’m very excited about being in
this type of business because
there is always something new
and innovative. I’m very
satisfied about the past 20
years and hope to have the good
fortune to have many more
successful years.
His award winning designs have
been featured in building and
remodeling publications. He won
the innovation and construction
award sponsored by Anderson
Windows and Doors on five
occasions.
